Networking. It seems that most people network for their business or for the purpose of finding a job. Have you ever thought about the influence your networking may have on others? I heard someone say the other day: “With networking, one person could lead to one thousand people.” This is so true! Several years ago, before “Networking” was a commonplace name in the business world, I met the man who was directly responsible for nearly every person who’s entered my life in the last 15 years. He was a natural. Shy, armed with a quiet demeanor, Ken’s biggest thrill in life was to connect people he liked. Unfortunately my good friend died almost 9 years ago, but not before he left a legacy for all who adored him. Ken Kimbrough made a huge impact in my life. You see, I have many more than one thousand people in my life now, and they all lead back to Ken. Sadly, Ken left this earth never realizing what a powerful person he was. What effects does your networking efforts have on others? Are you connecting people to others? Do you have a reputation for “being a person of influence?”
Are you a Person of Influence?

Hey Becky! Great article! My sisters and I are involved in three different Beaverton/Portland area churches. My passions are child mentoring and dog training/rescue. My 18 yr old daughter and I raise guide dog puppies for the Blind and are involved in dog rescue and re-homing, especially pit bulls. I think the common ingrediant in all of these activities are people with a heart for volunteering. For helping those, human or animal, that could use a hand. I love “hooking” people up that can help each other.Out in the field while prospecting for Aflac clients, I have introduced a newer business like a doggy daycare to some of my existing clients like a vet clinic that lets you advertise for free, Spot magazine and the Web group pdxdog.com. All of these were great resources for this doggy daycare and I was thrilled to help her make some connections.I passed on info for a small catering firm to one of my engineering firms that is always on the lookout for good food for their meetings/conventions. I also used a gal I meet thru an I take the lead group to make up a thank you basket for this engineering firm for allowing me to offer Aflac to their employees!Meeting new people is great fun for me. I love the idea of the six degrees of separation where we are all more closely connected than we realize. Keep up the good work!
