Great tips…pen and paper are better than a smart phone and tablet since it it is easier to pay attention to the speaker and not get distracted with e-mail etc. How do you want people to react when you are speaking? Do that!

I have been an Aflac agent for over two years now. What I have found is my potential clients like to be listened to. They really appreciate me jotting down notes while they speak, thereby giving validity to what they are trying to say. Everyone wants to talk. Listening is rare enough to be noticed. Great article as usual!

Great article and good information. I, too, always have a pen and paper for taking notes – and as a full time, professional REALTOR, I always dress for work whether I have appointments or not…as I may have an unexpected one before the end of a day. I will make note to be even more conscious of the allotted time of a meeting – paying special attention to the other person’s schedule.Thank you.

These are definitely solid tips. I love taking notes just about anywhere – I feel like pen and paper lets my mind be a lot more free than all the distractions I face when I am looking at a monitor. I am also taking these tips to heart regarding preparedness in any given business situation, nothing could be more important.
